No restrictions on inter-state travel, clarifies Minister
BENGALURU:
Reiterating the continuing measures taken by the state government to prevent Covid cases from spiking again, Health and Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar said guidelines are in place to restrict large gatherings at marriages and other social functions. But there are no restrictions on inter-state travel, (with the exception of Covid-negative certificates required for travellers from Kerala and Maharashtra). Dr Sudhakar was speaking to the media here on Wednesday.
No late-night parties
Instructions have been issued to hotels and marriage halls to take necessary steps to prevent the infection from spreading. “We have banned late-night parties because more people gather at that time. As there is a spike in cases in neighbouring states, we have taken steps to prevent its spread from there,” Dr Sudhakar said. “Vaccination is being provided at 3,500 centres across the state, and we have also increased the number of tests,” he added.
