‘Balancing’ act: State sees 8,960 infections, 7,464 discharges



The results of increased testing are being seen in Karnataka, as the state reported 8,960 fresh positive cases on Friday. Alongside, there were 136 deaths and 7,464 discharges statewide.  

The data shared by the Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Department said the state conducted 64,226 tests in a single day, of which 23,416 were rapid antigen tests while 40,810 were RT-PCR tests.  

Bengaluru Urban alone reported 2,721 positive cases followed by 726 in Mysuru, 484 in Ballari, 448 in Dakshina Kannada, 379 in Davanagere, 357 in Hassan, 299 in Dharwad and 290 in Belagavi..

These districts also reported a good number of discharges. Bengaluru Urban reported 2,148 discharges, Mysuru reported 479, Ballari reported 623, Dakshina Kannada 293, Davanagere 208, Hassan 167, Dharvad 565 and Belagavi 789. 

Bengaluru Urban has the highest number of active positive cases at 36,521, followed by Ballari 5,485, Mysuru 4,501 and Belagavi 3,932. 

Of the 136 deaths reported statewide,  Bengaluru accounted for 41, followed by 17 in Mysuru, 7 in Shivamogga, 9 in Dharwad, 6 each in Dakshina Kannada and Davanagere, and 5 in Ballari.
