Bengaluru: A special court in Bengaluru has granted anticipatory bail to BJP MLC N Ravikumar in a case registered over alleged derogatory remarks made against Karnataka’s Chief Secretary.
The case, filed at the Vidhana Soudha Police Station, pertains to public comments by Ravikumar that were considered inappropriate and derogatory towards the state’s top bureaucrat. Acting on his petition, the special court for elected representatives at the City Civil Court granted him bail, subject to strict conditions.
According to the court’s order, Ravikumar must submit a bond of ₹1 lakh, cooperate with the investigation, and refrain from making any further objectionable statements. The court also barred him from tampering with evidence or influencing witnesses.
Additionally, the BJP lawmaker has been directed to appear before the investigating officer within 10 days.
The case triggered sharp political reactions, as Ravikumar’s remarks were seen as a direct affront to the state’s administrative leadership, prompting swift legal proceedings.
