GOSAIPUR (Uttar Pradesh): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday predicted the victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections while anticipating that the Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi would blame EVMs for their loss on June 4.

Addressing a rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Gosaipur, Shah said that Rahul Gandhi’s people will also call a press conference post-polls, saying they lost due to EVMs. “On June 4, Rahul Gandhi will hold a press conference at 2 pm post polls and will blame EVM for their loss. ‘Array Rahul Baba, naach naa aaye aangan tedha’. Bhaiya, EVM will not make you lose but yeh mere Chandoli ke sher harane vale hai”, Amit Shah.

He further asked the people sitting at the rally will they would vote for Congress and the SP, who fired bullets at Ram Bhakts. “Narendra Modi built the Ram Mandir which was stalled by the Congress for 70 years. This election is between those who fired bullets at Ram bhakts and those who built the Ram Temple. Can you vote for the SP and Congress who fired bullets on Ram Bhakts? Narendra Modi, who built the Ram Mandir, has to be made the Prime Minister,” he said.

Shah further asserted that the two ‘Shehzade’ (Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi) were born with silver spoons. “The people of the nation have made up their minds to make PM Modi the Prime Minister for the third time. On June 4, the victory of the BJP is certain. There are these two ‘Shehzade’, who are born with silver spoons”, he said.

He further said that the INDIA bloc does not have a leader who can lead a country and become the Prime Minister. “They (INDIA bloc) do not have a leader who can become a Prime Minister. Okay tell me, can Sharad Pawar, MK Stalin, Mamata Banerjee and Uddhavji can become Prime Minister? Ab hasna mat, kya Rahul baba ban sakte hai kyaaa? When they are being asked who will be there Prime Minister they say that ‘baari baari 5 saal ek ek ek…” he said.

Shah further promised to return every penny of Sahara investors. “Akhilesh Yadav recently raised the issue of the Sahara Refund Portal. I want to know, under whose government did this Sahara scam occur? Narendra Modi began giving refunds. Till now, Rs 5000 crore has been returned to the people. We will return every penny. It is our guarantee”, Shah said.

Emphasising national security and economic progress under PM Modi, Shah questioned the opposition’s capability to lead, describing their alliance as a coalition of dynasts. “Who can give a befitting reply to Pakistan, save you from Covid, end terrorism and Naxalism, and do welfare of 60 crore people of the country? Only Modi”, he asserted. Shah also revisited the contentious issue of Article 370, asserting that its revocation did not lead to the predicted bloodshed.

Uttar Pradesh is voting in all the seven phases of the Lok Sabha polls, the last phase of which is scheduled on Saturday. The Congress is fighting the polls in partnership with the Samajwadi Party in the state and have a seat-sharing agreement with each other.

As per the seat agreement between the Samajwadi Party and Congress in Uttar Pradesh, Congress is contesting on 17 seats and the Samajwadi Party has the remaining 63 seats in the electorally crucial state.

In the 2019 general elections, the BJP emerged triumphant, securing 62 out of 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh, supplemented by two seats clinched by its ally Apna Dal (S). Mayawati’s BSP managed to secure 10 seats, while Akhilesh Yadav’s SP garnered five. Conversely, the Congress party secured only one seat.

The election for 543 Lok Sabha seats will be held in seven phases starting April 19. The counting of the votes will be held on June 4. (ANI)
