Briefing the media later, Revenue Minister R Ashoka said the government could rethink imposing the weekend curfew once again if Covid-19 hospitalisations grow at a rapid pace. According to him, the experts have noted that despite the surge in Covid-positive cases, the percentage of hospitalizations is low, but Covid restrictions could be reimposed if there is a spike in hospitalisations.

DCs to decide on school schedule

Education Minister BC Nagesh, who was part of the meeting, said the concerned district Deputy Commissioner, tahsildar and other education officials will take a call on closing schools in district headquarters if there is an increase in Covid cases among students.

“Directions have been issued to close schools only for the three days in district headquarters if Covid cases are found in school students,” Nagesh said.

The Education Minister also said that schools will remain closed till January 29 in Bengaluru as the positivity rate in the state capital is more compared to other district headquarters.
