Ambulance not required for asymptomatic patients: Sudhakar

Date:

BENGALURU:

Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar clarified on Wednesday that asymptomatic Covid cases need not be ferried to hospitals or Covid Care Centres in an ambulance, but can come in private vehicles.

Responding to news in the media of a shortage of ambulances, he said 500 vehicles would be allocated for Bengaluru.

Over 2,000 beds are currently available in Covid Care Centres, and 200-300 people are being admitted every day. A large number of people are recovering, he said.

Testing is being ramped up on the advice of Central officials, and steps are being taken to address the shortage of doctors, the minister added.
