ACB traps senior BBMP officer accepting Rs 20 lakh bribe

BENGALURU:

In a major bust, Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths trapped Bommanahalli zone’s Assistant Director, Town Planning (ADTP) Devendrappa on Friday while he was accepting an amount of Rs 20 lakh for issuing an occupancy certificate.

As per the sleuths, the complainant in the case is Rajesh S.

Devendrappa is an Assistant Executive Engineer with BBMP and was deputed to Bommanahalli zone.

Nabbed red-handed

Synchronising its move, the ACB laid a trap when the complainant arrived at a tourist travels shop near Majestic’s Amar Hotel on Friday evening.

Sources said a sum of Rs 40 lakh was demanded by the accused for issuance of an occupancy certificate for a building in Bommanahalli. Devendrappa was arrested while accepting an amount of Rs 20 lakh. The land on which the building is situated is owned by Lakshminarayan C.

ACB sleuths found additional 7,42,000 from Devendrappa’s car.
