BENGALURU:

An IPS officer attached with the Anti Corruption Bureau got a scare for the second time after his gunman tested positive for the coronavirus on Tuesday. Recently, another staffer in the same office was infected by Covid-19.

The guman has been admitted to a designated hospital. BBMP sanitized the ACB office in Khanija Bhavan on Race Course Road on Thursday.

As per sources, the gunman stays in the police quarters at Shivajinagar, which is a containment zone after several positive cases were reported in the last few months.

Sources in the ACB said the officer, IGP Chandrashekhar, had not had any contact with his gunman in the recent past, but as a precaution took a test which came negative.

Another source said the gunman was not feeling well before he went for the Covid-19 test.

Sources confirmed that the gunman had met IGP Chandrashekhar only once in the last one week, minimising the infection risk to the officer.

As a precautionary measure, the ACB top brass have issued oral directions to all staffers to strictly maintain social distancing and avoid long meetings in the office premises.
