Police Inspector’s accomplice nabbed while collecting Rs 2 lakh from complainant

BENGALURU:

Two persons involved in a bribery case, of whom one is a police inspector, were arrested by sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday.

Acting on a tip-off from the complainant, a businessman, the ACB sleuths arrested Raghavendra, a police inspector attached to the Chikkajala police station, and a civilian also named Raghavendra.

Bribe to ‘settle’ dispute

The police official had allegedly demanded an amount of Rs 10 lakh from the complainant to ‘settle’ a civil dispute. The civilian was caught in the act while he was collecting Rs 2 lakh from the complainant on behalf of the policeman.

According to the complainant, he had already paid the accused Rs 8 lakh as part of the ‘deal’.
