Karnataka Congress MLA Bharamgouda Kage Threatens Resignation, Cites ‘Administrative Collapse’ and Corruption in Public Works
Belagavi/Bengaluru: In a dramatic turn of events, Karnataka Congress MLA Bharamgouda Alagouda Kage from Kagwad constituency on Monday threatened to resign from the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, citing a complete administrative collapse, rampant corruption, and stagnation in development projects across the state.
Speaking to reporters in Belagavi, Kage said he was ādeeply hurtā by the governmentās inaction and added, āIt wonāt be surprising if I meet Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the next two days and submit my resignation.ā
Kage alleged that no development activity has taken place in Kagwad in the last two years, despite repeated assurances from the state government. He also accused the administration of delaying work orders related to Rs 25 crore worth of sanctioned projects, including Rs 12 crore for road infrastructure.
āI donāt understand the reason for this delay. I am equally puzzled,ā he said when questioned about the stalled projects.
Support to B R Patilās Allegations
Kage extended support to Congress MLA B R Patil from Aland, who had earlier alleged corruption in government housing schemes, claiming money was being extracted from beneficiaries.
āWhat B R Patil said is completely true. Itās been two years since any groundbreaking ceremony took place in my constituency,ā Kage said, echoing concerns over misgovernance.
BJP Seizes Opportunity to Slam Congress
Reacting strongly to the internal rebellion within the ruling party, BJP state president B Y Vijayendra posted on āXā (formerly Twitter), accusing the Congress government of systemic corruption and administrative breakdown.
āEven Congress MLAs are now victims of the bribery culture. Their own elected representatives are exposing the rot within,ā Vijayendra said. He described the Congress-led administration as a “curse haunting Karnataka.”
Vijayendra claimed that bribes are now the norm for getting basic government services, and Congress MLAs are voicing their helplessness. āWith no grants being sanctioned and peopleās problems remaining unaddressed, even MLAs like Patil and Kage are reaching a breaking point,ā he said.
He further alleged that a power struggle between CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D K Shivakumar has paralysed governance in the state.
BJP Urges Governorās Intervention
Vijayendra called upon Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot to intervene immediately and take action in the interest of Karnataka.
As Congress MLAs express open dissent and frustration, the episode has escalated into a significant political crisis for the Siddaramaiah-led government, raising serious questions about governance, infrastructure bottlenecks, and credibility within the ruling party
