BENGALURU:

The final electoral roll for the Karnataka State in 2024 was released today, revealing a total of 5,37,85,815 registered voters. This includes 2,69,33,750 male voters, 2,68,47,145 female voters, and 4,920 voters classified as “other.” It is worth noting the minimal difference between the number of female and male voters. Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Meena expressed his satisfaction with the significant number of women who have registered to vote.

During a press conference held today to discuss the final voter list for the state in 2024, published by the Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer, it was revealed that the initial draft voter list contained 5.33 crore voters. However, this number has now increased by 4.08 lakh voters.

Of particular interest is the substantial increase in female voters, with an additional 2.77 lakh women registering. Male voters have increased by 1.30 lakh, and there has been a slight increase of 24 voters classified as “other.” The number of voters aged above 100 years stands at 17,937, a decrease from the 23,377 recorded in the draft voter list. Additionally, the number of voters aged above 80 years has decreased from 13.82 lakh in the draft list to 12.71 lakh in the final list.

Furthermore, there has been a notable rise in the number of young voters in the 18-19 age group. The draft list initially included 6.45 lakh voters in this category, but the final list now boasts 10.34 lakh voters, an excess of 3.88 lakh. The total number of service voters is 46,501, with an additional 3,164 overseas voters. Moreover, there are 5.62 lakh voters with disabilities.

Voter ID cards are currently being sent to voters’ respective addresses through the express post service. As of the end of November 2023, a total of 17.47 Voter ID Cards have been successfully delivered directly to voters via Express Post. Additionally, the printing of 10.76 lakh voter ID cards is underway, with the ongoing process of sending them to voters.

According to the final voter list, the total number of polling stations is 58,834. During the rationalization of polling booths, 845 polling booths were added, and 552 polling booths were increased. In the previous assembly elections of 2023, a total of 58,545 polling booths were set up.

If an eligible voter’s name is not included in the electoral roll, they are strongly encouraged to register their name immediately. It is important to note that no changes can be made to the electoral roll on the day of polling.

Therefore, voters are kindly requested to urgently verify and confirm their names in the electoral roll. Eligible voters can download the voter helpline application on their mobile devices and submit their application through the app or via the https://voterportal.eci.gov.in/ portal.

During this event, senior officials, including Deputy Chief Electoral Officers Venkatesh Kumar and Kurma Rao, were present in the meeting.
