Congress Finalises Four Nominees for Karnataka Legislative Council; BK Hariprasad Among Selected Names
Bengaluru/New Delhi, June 3: In a major organisational reshuffle in Karnataka, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has appointed senior Congress leader B.K. Hariprasad as the new President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) with immediate effect.
The appointment was announced through an official press release issued by AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal on Tuesday.
According to the communication, the Congress President has approved the appointment of B.K. Hariprasad as the Karnataka Congress chief, marking a significant change in the party’s state leadership structure.
The AICC also acknowledged the contributions of outgoing KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar, who played a key role in strengthening the party organisation and leading the Congress during crucial political phases in Karnataka.
Hariprasad is one of the senior-most Congress leaders from Karnataka and has held several important positions within the party at both the state and national levels. Known for his organisational experience and close association with the Congress high command, he has been actively involved in party affairs for decades.
His appointment comes at a significant political juncture for Karnataka Congress, with the party focusing on governance, organisational strengthening and preparations for upcoming political challenges.
Political observers view the move as an effort by the Congress leadership to separate government responsibilities from party organisation and strengthen the party structure under an experienced hand.
The appointment takes effect immediately, according to the AICC notification signed by General Secretary K.C. Venugopal.
The leadership transition is expected to trigger further organisational changes within the Karnataka Congress in the coming weeks.
