Congress Finalises Four Nominees for Karnataka Legislative Council; BK Hariprasad Among Selected Names
Bengaluru, June 3: The Congress party has reportedly finalised the names of four candidates for nomination to the Karnataka Legislative Council, as political activity intensifies following recent developments in the state.
According to information emerging from party circles, senior Congress leader BK Hariprasad, along with PV Mohan, Shivanna Malavalli and Tippannappa Kamakanoor, have been selected for the four vacant Legislative Council seats.
The announcement comes amid extensive discussions within the Congress leadership regarding key political appointments and organisational balancing in Karnataka. Sources indicate that deliberations over cabinet expansion and other political appointments have been continuing simultaneously.
Political observers note that the party leadership moved swiftly in finalising the Council nominations, even as consultations on ministerial positions and other appointments remain underway.
While the names for the Legislative Council vacancies are understood to have been cleared, discussions regarding nominations to the Rajya Sabha are reportedly still in progress. Congress is expected to make a final decision on candidates for the available Rajya Sabha seats after further consultations with the party high command.
The inclusion of senior leader BK Hariprasad is being viewed as a significant political decision, given his long-standing role in the Congress organisation and state politics. The selection of PV Mohan, Shivanna Malavalli and Tippannappa Kamakanoor is also seen as part of the party’s efforts to accommodate leaders representing different regions and social groups.
An official announcement from the party is awaited.
