New Delhi, May 29: A day after resigning as Chief Minister of Karnataka, senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah met Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi at Sonia Gandhi’s residence at 10 Janpath in New Delhi on Friday morning.
Siddaramaiah was accompanied by his son and Karnataka Legislative Council member Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah during the meeting.
The meeting assumes significance as Siddaramaiah is expected to discuss his future political role with the Congress leadership after reportedly declining an offer to move to the Rajya Sabha and reiterating his intention to remain active in Karnataka politics.
Sources indicated that the discussions focused on the ongoing leadership transition in Karnataka, the formation of the next government and Siddaramaiah’s future responsibilities within the party.

Karnataka Ministers K.J. George and Priyank Kharge, along with MLC Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah, were present during the interaction with the Congress president.
The meetings come amid intense political activity within the Congress following Siddaramaiah’s resignation and the ongoing process to finalise the party’s next leader in Karnataka.
Senior Congress leaders are expected to continue consultations in New Delhi before a final decision is taken on the new Chief Minister and the composition of the next Karnataka Cabinet.
