Fraud Alert: Scammers Misuse Bengaluru North Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar’s Identity on WhatsApp
Bengaluru: The Bengaluru North City Corporation has issued a public alert after unidentified individuals allegedly misused the name and photograph of Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar to attempt financial fraud through WhatsApp messages.
According to officials, the scam came to light after messages were reportedly sent from an international mobile number to senior officials, including the Secretary of the State Election Commission. The fraudsters are suspected of impersonating the Commissioner and contacting individuals to seek monetary assistance.
Civic authorities have clarified that neither the Commissioner nor any official of the City Corporation will ever request financial help through personal WhatsApp messages. Citizens have been strongly advised not to trust or respond to such messages under any circumstances.
Taking the matter seriously, the City Corporation has lodged a formal complaint with the Amruthahalli Police Station, seeking legal action against the unidentified persons involved in the attempted fraud.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and avoid engaging with suspicious messages received from unknown numbers. Any such communication should be immediately reported to the nearest police station.
