Bengaluru Shock: 1.5-Year-Old Girl Critical After Falling from First Floor in Nayandahalli, MLA Assures Medical Support
Bengaluru: A one-and-a-half-year-old girl is battling for life after falling from the first floor of a residential building in Nayandahalli, West Bengaluru. The incident, which occurred around 6:30 pm on Monday, was captured on CCTV, sending shockwaves across the locality.
The toddler, identified as Sahana, was reportedly playing inside her home while her mother was in the kitchen. In a brief moment without supervision, the child stepped out through the open main door into the passage.
Preliminary reports indicate that Sahana climbed onto a chair placed near a metal grill in the corridor. She reportedly lost balance and fell from the first floor onto the road below, sustaining severe head injuries. Bystanders who witnessed the fall immediately rushed to help and alerted others in the area.
Hearing the commotion, the mother ran downstairs but collapsed upon seeing her injured daughter. Neighbours quickly intervened and shifted both the child and the mother to a private hospital in Basavanagudi for emergency treatment.
Doctors have confirmed that Sahana is currently undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). While her condition remains critical, there are early signs of positive response to treatment. The mother has regained consciousness and is now with family members at the hospital.
The incident has drawn attention from local leaders, with Priya Krishna announcing that he will bear the full cost of the child’s treatment. Following this, his brother Pradeep Krishnappa visited the hospital to meet the family and extend support. He described the incident as “heart-wrenching” and assured that the child would receive the best possible medical care.
The incident has once again highlighted the importance of child safety measures at home, particularly securing balconies, corridors, and open access points to prevent such tragic accidents.
