Thunderstorm Alert for Karnataka from April 9; Rain Likely in Several Districts This Week
Bengaluru: The Meteorological Centre in Bengaluru has issued a detailed weather update for Karnataka, highlighting the possibility of thunderstorms, gusty winds, and scattered rainfall across several regions in the coming days.
As per observations recorded at 08:30 AM IST, an upper air cyclonic circulation persists over the west-central Bay of Bengal off the South Andhra Pradesh coast at about 1.5 km above mean sea level. Another cyclonic circulation is currently over Telangana and adjoining areas at around 0.9 km above mean sea level.
A trough extends from this system across Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu up to the Gulf of Mannar. Additionally, a trough from West Bengal to Telangana across Chhattisgarh is seen at 0.9 km above mean sea level.
Temperature Summary:
Maximum temperatures were below normal in parts of North Interior Karnataka and at a few places in South Interior Karnataka by 1.6°C to 3.0°C. In some areas of North Interior Karnataka, temperatures were significantly below normal by 3.1°C to 5.0°C. Elsewhere, temperatures remained near normal.
Thunderstorm Warning:
Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds (30–40 kmph) are likely at isolated places over interior Karnataka on April 9 and 10. Coastal Karnataka is also expected to witness thunderstorm activity during the same period.
South Interior Karnataka may experience thunderstorms with lightning between April 6 and April 8 at isolated locations.
No hailstorm or heatwave warnings have been issued. Temperatures are expected to remain stable across the state over the next five days.

April 9: Thunderstorms with gusty winds expected in Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri, Gadag, Bagalkote, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Shivamogga, Davanagere, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, and Hassan districts.
April 10: Light to moderate rainfall likely in Belagavi, Bagalkote, Vijayapura, Dharwad, Haveri, Gadag, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, Shivamogga, Mysuru, and Chamarajanagar.
April 11: Continued rainfall expected in Coastal Karnataka and parts of North and South Interior Karnataka including Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri, Gadag, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, Shivamogga, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, and Mandya.
