Bengaluru: Senior BJP leader, Central Parliamentary Board member and former Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa on Tuesday said the Bharatiya Janata Party has decided to place special focus on local body elections, projecting them as a platform to expose what he termed the โmisgovernance and corruptionโ of the Congress-led state government.
Speaking to the media at the BJP state headquarters Jagannath Bhavan in Malleshwaram, Yediyurappa said the party has launched district-level leadership meetings involving the state president and senior leaders to strengthen organisational preparedness ahead of the elections.
โWe have resolved to bring this governmentโs misrule to the attention of the people and work with full commitment to ensure BJP candidates emerge victorious in the local body elections,โ he said.
Responding to questions on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah becoming the longest-serving CM in Karnataka, Yediyurappa said Siddaramaiahโs tenure cannot be compared with that of late Devaraj Urs, noting that their governance styles were fundamentally different.
โAt a time when this government is deeply mired in corruption, trying to showcase achievements through conferences and celebrations will not appeal to the people,โ he remarked, adding that public sentiment is already favouring the BJP in local elections.

Yediyurappa expressed confidence that the BJP would continue its winning momentum and said the partyโs grassroots workers are highly motivated. โYou will see BJPโs victory in the coming local body elections,โ he asserted.
He further said the BJP is working with a long-term vision of returning to power with a decisive mandate in the next Assembly elections, beginning with success at the grassroots level.
