Bengaluru, January 5: The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has successfully identified the source of contaminated water in Lingrajapuram using advanced robotic inspection technology, marking a major technological intervention in urban water management.
According to officials, the precise point of contamination was detected at around 10:30 AM on Monday, following a robotic inspection of the underground pipeline network. The inspection revealed that a nearly 40-year-old pipeline had corroded extensively, allowing impurities to mix with the water supply.
BWSSB officials confirmed that the ageing and rusted pipe was the primary reason for water contamination in the area. Acting swiftly on the findings, the Board has decided to replace the old pipeline on a priority basis to permanently resolve the issue.
BWSSB Chairman Dr. V. Ram Prasath Manohar lauded the engineering team for their prompt response and effective use of technology.
โThe engineering team has demonstrated how modern technology can significantly reduce response time and improve accuracy in detecting complex infrastructure issues. I commend the team for this swift and efficient operation,โ he said.
Officials assured residents that normal supply of clean drinking water will resume immediately after the pipeline replacement work is completed.
The successful deployment of robotic technology is being seen as a model for future infrastructure diagnostics across Bengaluru, especially in older localities with ageing water pipelines.
