CM Siddaramaiah Skips Assembly Proceedings Due to Health Issues in Belagavi

CM Siddaramaiah Skips Assembly Proceedings Due to Health Issues in Belagavi

Belagavi: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stayed away from the Karnataka Assembly proceedings on Wednesday after experiencing health discomfort while attending the ongoing winter session in Belagavi.

The Chief Minister spent the day resting at the government guest house following a bout of illness. Several senior Congress leaders and ministers visited him to enquire about his health.

Earlier in the day, Siddaramaiah had participated in a protest near the Gandhi statue outside Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, condemning what the Congress described as โ€œpolitical vendettaโ€ by the Centre against party leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case. He later entered the Assembly but returned to the guest house after his condition worsened.

Sources said the Chief Minister complained of stomach-related issues and fatigue, following which doctors advised rest.

Among those who visited Siddaramaiah were his son and MLC Yathindra Siddaramaiah, Minister Byrathi Suresh, former minister Ramesh Jarkiholi, and senior leader G.T. Devegowda.

Speaking to reporters after meeting his father, Yathindra Siddaramaiah said the Chief Ministerโ€™s condition was stable.
โ€œHis health is fine. He has a gastrointestinal infection and symptoms similar to diarrhoea. Doctors have examined him and prescribed medication. He is taking rest and is expected to attend the Assembly session tomorrow,โ€ he said.

Officials said the Chief Minister did not participate in any official programmes till evening as a precautionary measure.
