Bengaluru/Hubballi: The South Western Railway (SWR) has recorded a significant surge in ticket checking cases and revenue during the current financial year, following intensified enforcement drives aimed at curbing ticketless and irregular travel across its network.
According to official data, November 2025 (FY 2025–26) alone witnessed the detection of 67,000 ticket checking cases, generating ₹5.36 crore in revenue. This marks a 24% increase in cases and a 60% jump in earnings compared to November 2024 (FY 2024–25), when 54,000 cases were booked with revenue of ₹3.35 crore.
For the cumulative period from April 1 to November 30, 2025, SWR registered 5.57 lakh ticket checking cases, with total earnings touching ₹45.89 crore. In comparison, the corresponding period last year saw 4.8 lakh cases and revenue of ₹32.87 crore, reflecting a 16% rise in cases and a robust 40% growth in revenue year-on-year.
Railway officials attributed the improved performance to sustained ticket checking drives, special inspections, and surprise checks conducted at stations and onboard trains. These measures are intended to deter unauthorised travel, ensure compliance with railway rules, and improve overall passenger convenience and operational efficiency.
With festive season and peak travel demand approaching, South Western Railway said it will further intensify ticket checking operations to ensure safe, orderly, and comfortable journeys for passengers.
Passengers have been urged to travel only with valid tickets and proper travel authority to avoid penalties and inconvenience.
