Belagavi, Dec. 10: Housing, Waqf and Minority Welfare Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan clarified that the Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) has shown no negligence in facilitating e-Khata issuance for properties in Suryanagar Phase-1. The responsibility now lies with the Chandapura and Bommasandra Municipal Councils, which must formally take over the layout and initiate e-Khata processing, he informed the Legislative Council.
Responding to a starred question raised by member Sunil Vallyapur, the Minister said that Suryanagar Phase-1 falls under the jurisdictions of the Chandapura and Bommasandra municipal councils. The Housing Board has repeatedly written to both civic bodies, asking them to assume administrative control of the layout.
He added that once the councils officially take possession, they must begin issuing e-Khatas for individual property owners.
However, the Minister also confirmed that the Government has directed the Housing Board to directly issue e-Khatas within one month, ensuring no further delay for residents.
Suryanagar Phase-1 has been developed with all essential civic amenities including asphalted roads, stormwater drains, underground drainage, parks and Cauvery drinking water supply.
The Minister noted that under the Housing Board Act, all projects are implemented on a no-profit, no-loss basis, and only routine maintenance expenses are collected from residents as taxes or service charges.
