Bengaluru: In a major citizen-connect initiative, BBMP South Zone Commissioner K.N. Ramesh announced that he will personally visit one ward every week to hear and address grievances of residents across South Bengaluru.

The announcement came after a meeting with apartment associations, resident welfare associations, and local civic groups, where multiple civic concerns were raised.

Ramesh said the South Zone comprises 72 wards, and a structured, weekly field inspection will help officers resolve issues at the ward level itself. “A team of officials will join me during these visits to ensure on-the-spot solutions wherever possible,” he assured.

Citizens highlighted several recurring issues, including:
• Stormwater drain encroachments and blockages
• Footpath encroachments
• Non-functioning streetlights
• Irregular solid waste collection and disposal
• Potholes and road damage
• Illegal constructions
• Commercial activities inside residential zones
• Poor maintenance of public toilets

Commissioner Ramesh said some of these problems require “micro-level planning” and stressed the importance of cooperation between citizens and the BBMP to resolve them effectively.

Representatives from Yelachenahalli, Konanakunte, JP Nagar, BTM Layout, HSR Layout, Puttenahalli and surrounding areas attended the meeting and shared their concerns.
