7, including Hosur MLA’s son, killed in car crash in Bengaluru’s Koramangala
Speeding Audi mangled after ramming into compound wall in Koramangala early on Tuesday
BENGALURU:
In a tragic incident, seven persons, including the DMK’s Hosur MLA Y Prakash’s son, were killed in a car accident in the Koramangala area of Bengaluru early on Tuesday.
The deceased include the MLA’s son Y Karunasagar and his girlfriend Bindu. The others have been identified as Ishita Vishwas from Maharashtra, Dr Dhanusha, Akshay Goyal from Kerala, Utsav from Haryana and Rohit from Hubballi.
As per the traffic police, the Audi Q3 climbed the footpath, hit three bollards and then hit the compound wall of a property.
According to the cops, the car was heading from the direction of the Koramangala police station towards Forum Mall on 20th Main Road when the mishap occurred.
“Three women and 4 men were in the car. Three were in the front seat while 4 were at the back,” the police said, quoting witnesses, in a message shared with the media. Audi had seating for only five people.
6 died on spot
According to sources, six of the car’s occupants died on the spot while the seventh died on the way to a hospital.
Joint Commissioner (Traffic) B Ravikantegowda and BTM Layout Congress MLA Ramalinga Reddy visited the accident site.
A top traffic cop told TheBengaluruLive that except for the MLA’s son Karunasagar and another victim, Utsav, all the others, including Karunasagar’s girlfriend Bindu, were staying in a PG in Koramangala.
