As many as 560 Karnataka students have returned to the state from war-ravaged Ukraine till Tuesday, Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) Commissioner and Nodal Officer Manoj Rajan informed that 57 students returned today, and on March 3, as many as 104 students returned to the state, the largest batch of returnees under Operation Ganga ‘ so far.

Next two days, as many as 182 students flew back, he said.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said the body of Naveen Shekharappa Gyanagoudar will be brought back from Ukraine when shelling stops Naveen was killed in shelling when he had gone to buy groceries outside Kharkiv metro station on March 1, Naveen’s father Shekharappa Gyanagoudar has been demanding that his son’s body should be brought back at the earliest.

On Saturday, Bommai had visited Chalageri village and met Naveen’s family members and spent time with them to console them. At the occasion, he handed over a cheque of Rs 25 lakhs to Naveen’s father and assured to give a suitable job to his eldest son pursuing PhD in a university. UNI
