As per Banashankari cops, accused threatened a woman who told them to desist
BENGALURU:
An FIR has been filed against five miscreants in the city who allegedly beat a street dog and poured acid on it, according to the Banashankari police.
According to the cops, the accused threatened violence against a woman who intervened in the incident.
According to the police, the accused are in the habit of moving around at night in a drunken state and teasing street dogs.
Dog tied and beaten
On March 4, the accused allegedly tied a rope to a street dog at Ambedkarnagar in Banashankari, then beat it severely and poured acid and petrol on the canine.
When a 50-year-old woman, the complainant in the case, told them to desist, they allegedly threatened her with violence.
The woman took the help of a social activist to file the complaint.
The five-year-old male dog has been shifted to an animal rescue centre for treatment, where he has been tagged with the name ‘Bunny’.
The case against the accused is under IPC sections 34 (criminal act done by several persons), 428 (whoever commits mischief by killing, poisoning, maiming or rendering useless any animal), 429 (mischief by killing or maiming cattle) and 354 (any man who assaults or uses criminal force to any woman or abets such act).
