Following DCM Ashwath Narayan’s intervention, MEA flies them back
BENGALURU:
Thanks to the intervention of Deputy Chief Minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan, 32 Kannadiga workers stranded in Saudi Arabia after their work visas expired have returned home safely.
The DCM had raised the issue with officials of the Skill Development Corporation, which is under his charge, following which the MEA was apprised of the problem. The employees, who were jobless in the aftermath of the Covid pandemic and whose visas had expired, were flown back to Chennai, from where they were brought to Bengaluru in a KSRTC bus on Thursday evening.
They were tested for Covid and are at present put up in the Bangalore Univeristy hostel.
DCM Ashwath Narayan said steps would be taken to provide employment for the returnees.
