317 new Covid-19 cases, 7 deaths in Karnataka

BENGALURU:

With 317 new infections and 7 deaths on Tuesday, the respective tallies for Karnataka are 7,530 and 94. The day also saw 322 recoveries, according to the health department.

Following in the wake of Udupi, Kalaburagi has become the second district to notch up  1,000 cases.

The health department bulletin said the cumulative figure of 7,530 includes 94 deaths and 4,456 discharges. Of 2,976 active cases, 2,904 are in designated hospitals and 72 in ICUs.

Tuesday’s deaths include 5 from Bengaluru Urban and one each from Ramanagara and Bidar. Two men aged 72 and 60, and two women aged 65 and 85, died in Bengaluru, while a  41-year-old man died in Ramanagara and a 49-year-old man in Bidar.

Of Tuesday’s new infections, 108 are inter-state returnees, mostly from Maharashtra, while 78 havae returned from overseas, mostly from the UAE.

The break-up of Tuesday’s cases is: Dakshina Kannada 79, Kalaburagi 63, Ballari 53, Bengaluru Urban 47, Dharwad 8, Udupi and Shivamogga 7 each,  Raichur, Yadgir and Uttara Kannada 6 each, Hassan 5, Vijayapura, Mysuru, Gadag, Ramanagara, Chikkamagalur and Koppal 4 each, Belagavi 3, Bidar 2, and Tumakuru 1.

Udupi tops the ‘positive’ table with 1,035 cases, followed by Kalaburagi with 1,007 and Yadgir with 828. In discharges too, Udupi leads with 817, followed by Kalaburagi with 474 and Bengaluru Urban with 361.

Approximately 4,57,267 samples have been tested so far, of which 7,936 were tested on Tuesday. 4,39,654 samples have tested negative, of which 7,308 reported negative on Tuesday.
