Bengaluru: Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao has directed officials in the BBMP East Zone to immediately issue a circular making installation of separate wet and dry waste bins mandatory in buildings with more than three floors.

Speaking at a public grievance meeting held in the East Zone, Rao said the move is essential to streamline waste segregation and tackle mounting garbage issues. He instructed health officials to serve notices to all eligible buildings after the circular is issued, mandating compliance within their premises.

Borewell Road Development Push

The Chief Commissioner also directed officials to take possession of reserved abandoned properties earmarked for Borewell Road widening and begin development works. Authorities have been instructed to conduct site inspections and initiate necessary action.

Micro Plan to Tackle Garbage Dumping

Citizens raised concerns over roadside dumping and garbage accumulation in vacant sites, along with irregular door-to-door collection. Responding to complaints, Rao instructed officials to identify problem areas and prepare a micro-level waste management plan to resolve the issue systematically.
