We will request PM for more relaxations, says Yediyurappa

In a revision of quarantine guidelines, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said on Monday that travellers to Karnataka from Tamil Nadu and Delhi will face 3 days of institutional quarantine followed by 11 days of home quarantine. Travellers from Maharashtra continue to face 7 days of institutional quarantine followed by 7 days of home quarantine, while those from other states have to self-quarantine.
Speaking to the media after a Covid review meeting , he said, “It is because of returnees from other states that the cases have increased, not because of local (intra-state) movement.” (Listen to video clip)
“There are no plans for any lockdown, and we will request the Prime Minister for more relaxations,” the CM said.
Giving figures, he said of 7,000 cases in the state, 4,386 are returnees from Maharashtra and their contacts are 1,340. Overseas returnees are 216, from Delhi 87, from Tamil Nadu 67, and from Gujarat 62.
Keeping the likely rise of infections in mind, the CM said the government would take all the precautions required, and appealed to citizens to do their bit by wearing masks and following social distancing.
‘Mask Day’
He said the coming Thursday would be observed as ‘Mask day’ across the state, including at the Vidhana Soudha. He said a fine of Rs. 200 would be imposed on those not wearing masks or maintaining social distancing.
Yediyurappa said a special Covid-19 task force has been constituted for Bengaluru and surrounding areas.,
Giving other figures, the CM said the state’s mortality rate is 1.2 per cent while the national average is 2.8 per cent. The state’s recovery rate is 56.6 per cent while the national average is 51 per cent. Moreover, 93 per cent of the total cases are asymptomatic.
