50 checking teams for city under DCP Isha Pant
Violators face FIRs, while counseling also given
BENGALURU:
Three persons violating home quarantine conditions have been apprehended by enforcement squads and taken to quarantine facilities. One woman was roaming around in Lakshmidevamma Block while two Australia-returned persons were picked up from Ulsoor Main Channel Road.
According to a state government update, as many as 50 quarantine enforcement squads have been deployed within Bengaluru city, including Bangalore Urban, Rural and BBMP limits, under the overall control of DCP (Command Centre) Isha Pant. Each squad consists of a driver, an Ayush doctor and a police constable with a wireless phone.
The teams have been given standard operating procedures and personal protection equipment, and are linked to the health helpline and police helpline numbers.
Based on public complaints, the squad is tasked with apprehending home quarantine violators. He/she will be taken to the area police station and an FIR will be lodged by the Ayush doctor, after which he/she will be taken to the nearest mass quarantine facility.
Positive cases and suspects hospitalized in designated hospitals, and quarantined persons either in mass quarantine or houses, have to stay there for a minimum of 14 days or till the successive samples of the positive case are proved negative or as per the treating physician’s advice. A long period of isolation can affect persons, and so far 6,898 counselling sessions have been held.
