Bengaluru: Karnataka has 191 unfilled undergraduate medical seats even after seven rounds of counselling, and any further allotment will depend on permission from the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) said.
KEA Executive Director H. Prasanna said all dental seats had been allotted, leaving no vacancies in that stream. Results of the fourth stray vacancy round were announced on Monday.
Two allotment rounds held on the final admission day
KEA conducted two separate stray vacancy rounds on Monday, the admission deadline under the MCC directive, following requests from parents and candidates.
A total of 84 medical seats were allotted in the two rounds: 62 in the morning and 22 in the evening. The corresponding dental allotments were six and five seats.
Additional counselling only if MCC permits
Prasanna said the seat allotment process for the 2026 medical and dental admissions had concluded. KEA would conduct additional rounds to fill the remaining medical seats if the MCC granted further permission.
The announcement of vacant seats therefore does not, by itself, open another round of applications or option entry.
