All of 108, Jagan Bi Patel of Chikkodi had the distinction of playing host to Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar during his visit to Belagavi. On Wednesday, she died of old age-related issues at her home in Karoshi village..
The chief architect of independent India’s constitution, then a practising lawyer, had arrived in Chikkodi in 1927 in the course of a land dispute hearing at Aurwad village in Maharashtra. Ambedkar stayed at Karoshi village in Belagavi for 9 days, and it was Jagan Bi, whom he affectionately called ‘Munni’, who cooked for him during that period.
