Bengaluru: In a massive crackdown on narcotics, Bengaluru Police have seized drugs worth nearly ₹50 crore within just one week, marking one of the biggest anti-drug operations in the city in recent times.
Multiple coordinated operations by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) and local police units led to the recovery of various synthetic drugs, including MDMA, LSD strips, hydro-ganja, and brown sugar, along with the arrest of several accused.
According to officials, the CCB alone seized MDMA and hydro-ganja worth ₹17.5 crore in two major cases. In one instance, a large consignment of drugs was intercepted at the International Post Office, indicating an international supply chain. In another operation, two foreign nationals—identified as Ambrose and Valentine—were arrested for drug peddling, with a significant quantity of narcotics recovered from their possession.
In a separate operation, Bagalur Police seized LSD strips worth ₹16 crore, recovering around 19,435 strips. These paper-like strips, often divided into smaller portions for consumption, are among the most potent synthetic drugs circulating in urban markets.
Yeshwanthpur and Jalahalli Police teams also carried out raids, recovering drugs worth approximately ₹6.47 crore. The contraband was reportedly being distributed in disguised forms, including packaging resembling chocolates, before being supplied to consumers.
Further, Adugodi Police seized brown sugar worth ₹1.5 crore, while Chikkajala Police recovered narcotics valued at around ₹1.6 crore.
Investigations suggest that the drugs were sourced from Delhi and international locations, with Bengaluru being used as a key distribution hub. Authorities are also probing suspicious consignments received through postal channels to identify the origin and handlers involved in the network.
Police officials stated that several accused have been arrested, and further investigations are underway to dismantle the larger drug trafficking network operating in the city.
