What Makes Dr. CN Manjunath's Retirement in Government Service Newsworthy?

BENGALURU:

Can the retirement of a doctor in government service be newsworthy? When a doctor in government service consistently demonstrates a spirit of public service and provides exceptional treatment to patients, it becomes not only ordinary news but also something truly special. A heartwarming farewell to the esteemed Dr. Cholenahalli Nanjappa Manjunath, a renowned cardiologist and the Director of Sri Jayadeva Heart Science and Research Institute in Bengaluru, is making headlines.

Dr. C.N. Manjunath was originally scheduled to retire by the end of July 2017, in accordance with government regulations. However, it is noteworthy that the state government extended his tenure for an additional six and a half years due to his exceptional expertise in treatment methods, unwavering professional loyalty, genuine concern and care for patients, and his unwavering willingness to serve.

It is important to acknowledge that Dr. C.N. Manjunath played a pivotal role in the remarkable growth of the 1150-bed Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology and Research. Under his leadership, the institute expanded to include two eight-story buildings in Jayanagar, Bengaluru, making it the largest of its kind in Asia. Additionally, he spearheaded the establishment of a branch building in Mysore and the expansion of the institute’s activities in Kalaburagi.

The Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology and Research is a commendable endeavor aimed at providing comprehensive treatment for all heart-related ailments under one roof. This government-owned hospital not only offers affordable treatment to all, but also provides free care to the poor and needy. With its five-star treatment facilities, it rivals even the most prestigious private hospitals.

Credit and honor are due to Dr. C.N. Manjunath for his unwavering dedication to leading the organization with the mission of providing quality treatment to all patients, regardless of their financial background.

The Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology and Research offers treatment at a significantly lower cost compared to private hospitals, with a reduction of 25 percent. This means that patients can receive high-quality treatment at a fraction of the price charged by private healthcare facilities. The affordability of the hospital’s rates has attracted not only those seeking cost-effective options but also wealthy individuals who recognize the exceptional quality of care provided.

Both individuals with government sector health insurance and private sector medical insurance choose this hospital for their heart treatment needs. Additionally, the hospital offers a loan facility specifically designed for officers and employees serving in Central Government Departments and Central Government Owned Institutions, as well as their families. The same facility is extended to family members of officers and staff working in State Government Departments and State Government Owned Institutions.

However, a question arises regarding how individuals who are poor and lack financial resources can access treatment. Dr. C N Manjunath, the director of Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology and Research, addresses this concern by explaining the hospital’s approach. They have two types of books: a rule book and a humanity book. The book of humanity covers the poor and needy, and the hospital actively seeks donors to provide free treatment to these individuals.

Dr. C N Manjunath, a compassionate doctor with a heart of gold, has dedicated almost sixteen and a half years of service as the director of Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology and Research. His impending retirement is a heartbreak for the poor and needy who have greatly benefited from his care.

The Government of Karnataka’s prestigious Rajyotsava Awardee and the Government of India’s Padma Shri Awardee Dr. C N Manjunath’s wife Anasuya is a house wife and a daughter of former prime minister HD Deve Gowda. Dr. Manjunath’s son Dr. Satvik, follows in his father’s footsteps as a cardiologist, while their daughter, Namrata, specializes in dermatology.

However, we strongly desire to ensure that the invaluable experience and expertise of Dr. C.N. Manjunath, who has been providing exceptional treatment to patients afflicted with diverse heart conditions, including those from underprivileged backgrounds, continues to benefit society. It is with great admiration that we acknowledge the remarkable dedication of Dr. C.N. Manjunath in his pursuit of healing hearts!
