Yelahanka MLA SR Vishwanath, BBMP chief Gaurav Gupta call for road repairs on a war footing
BENGALURU:
Various pressing issues pertaining to BBMP’s Yelahanka zone, including pothole and road repairs, waste segregation, street lights and Covid testing, were discussed at a meeting in the ‘mini Vidhana Soudha’ on Tuesday.
MLA SR Vishwanath called for work on underground utilities of various agencies to be completed at the earliest so that road repairs could be taken up. He asked BWSSB to complete its UGD and water line laying in the 110 villages (of which 16 villages come in the Yelahanka zone) at the earliest.
BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta said Yelahanka zone should not suffer during the rainy season and steps should be taken to see that rain water is channeled into the storm water drains. Shoulder drains leading to storm water drains should be desilted, he said.
Delay in KPTCL work
All the major roads in Yelahanka should be resurfaced. Gupta pointed to the delay in KPTCL’s 66 KV work and the Cauvery 5th phase water line near the Thanisandra Rashtrothana flyover, as a result of which commuters were taking the service road which is in bad shape.
Gupta called for immediate pothole repairs on Sandeep Unnikrishnan Road, Vidyaranyapura Road, GKVK Double Road and MS Palya Main Road.
Officials should keep tabs on waste segregation and should ensure that there are no black spots, the BBMP chief said.
Lake revamping
Lakes in the Yelahanka zone should be redeveloped so that rain water from the storm water drains flows into the lakes, Gupta said.
Covid testing
All 11 PHCs in Yelahanka should conduct Covid tests and contact tracing, and ramp up the vaccination process, the civic chief said.
Among those who attended the meeting were Zonal Commissioner Dayanand, Joint Commissioner PV Poornima, Chief Engineers Ranganath, Prahallad and Suguna, and officials from BWSSB and BESCOM.
