CHIKKAMAGALUR: The Forest Department has temporarily prohibited entry of tourists to Ettina Bhuja, a popular trekking destination in Mudigere taluk, for one month from July 1. The entry ban comes in the light of incessant rain, dense fog and increased wildlife activity.
The 7-km trek offers an exhilarating experience, but given the present conditions, rescue in case of any accident would be difficult. Since vehicles cannot go up the trekking route, accident victims will have to be physically carried back.
The tourist spot will be closed for a period of one month and and a security guard has been posted at the entry. The tourist ban comes on the back of demands by locals not to allow tourists in view of the dangers involved.
