Bengaluru: The recent terrorist attack on tourists in Kashmir’s Pahalgam has claimed the life of another Kannadiga, Bharat Bhushan. Along with Manjunath Rao from Shivamogga, Bharat Bhushan, a 41-year-old resident of Bengaluru, tragically lost his life in the attack.
Bharat Bhushan, a 41-year-old engineer from Haveri and a resident of Bengaluru, tragically lost his life in a terror attack. His wife, Sujatha, aged 37, and their three-year-old son miraculously survived the attack.
Bhushan and his family had embarked on a trip to Kashmir on April 18 through a tour operator. Previously employed as a software engineer, he was currently engaged in diagnostics. Bhushan resided in Sundarnagar, Yeshwanthpur, and originally hailed from Ranebennur in Haveri district.
His father, a retired deputy director of public education, and mother lived in Devi Nagar, Ranebennur, before relocating to Mattikere in Bengaluru a few years ago. The Haveri police have confirmed Bhushan’s connection to Bengaluru and Haveri.
Bhushan was known to be a family friend of former speaker K.B. Koliwad and MLA Prakash Koliwad. The Koliwad family has urged the government to expedite the process of bringing his body back to Bengaluru. Bangalore South MP Tejaswi Surya, who spoke to Sujatha over the phone, shared, “I have just spoken to Mrs. Sujatha, a resident of Mattikere, Bengaluru. Her husband, Bharat Bhushan, was killed in the terror attack early this morning. She and her 3-year-old son survived.”
