BELAGAVI: A fourteen-year-old girl in Belagavi district gave birth to a child recently. Owing to the gravity of the situation, the Mudalgi police have intervened and detained a male, age 24.
This information has been verified by Nitesh Patil, the Belagavi district magistrate and deputy commissioner, with TheBengaluruLive. “The accused has been apprehended and is currently in judicial custody,” he said.
Patil added that the situation is presently being investigated and that a criminal case has already been filed at the Mudalgi Police station.
According to sources, The 14-year-old teenage girl and the accused, Hanumanta, 24, allegedly had a romantic relationship. Hanumanta is 24 years old. She gave birth to the boy while still in the ambulance and was being driven to the Gokak Hospital.
After carefully documenting the case and taking the required actions to apprehend the accused, the Mudalgi Police will now place the accused in court custody.
