BENGALURU: Two police officials in Bengaluru have been arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe to investigate a cyber fraud case. The Lokayukta police reported that an Assistant Commissioner of Police and an Assistant Sub-Inspector were taken into custody after a 42-year-old software engineer filed a complaint on Tuesday night.
The accused officers, ACP Tanveer S R and ASI Krishna Murthy, who were stationed at the Cyber, Economic, and Narcotics Police Station in the North East Division, allegedly demanded Rs four lakh from the complainant to apprehend suspects in the cyber fraud case and conduct an investigation.
Upon receiving the complaint, the Lokayukta police set up a sting operation. ASI Krishna Murthy was caught red-handed accepting Rs two lakh as an advance payment. Following his confession, ACP Tanveer S R was also arrested.
