RAMANAGARA/BENGALURU:

The Karnataka police have filed a second FIR against 40 persons, including KPCC president DK Shivakumar and his brother DK Suresh, on charges of violating the Covid guidelines issued by the government of Karnataka.

Kanakapura tahsildar Vishwanath is the complainant in the FIR. He said the KPCC chief was ‘advised’ not to conduct the Mekedatu project ‘padayatra’ as restrictions on public gatherings had been imposed due to a surge in Covid-19 positive cases.

Despite the official restrictions, Congress leaders went ahead with the ‘padayatra’.

“The Congress leaders have violated Covid restriction orders issued by the government. Further, no one had worn a mask and they even failed to maintain social distancing,” Vishwanath said in his complaint.
