Bengaluru: In a move aimed at addressing the city’s increasing traffic problems and strengthening future infrastructure needs, the Bengaluru East City Corporation has acquired approximately 14 acres of land valued at ₹510 crore, as confirmed by Commissioner D.S. Ramesh.

As part of this operation, land has already been acquired from 52 properties situated along major road routes. This includes key areas connecting the ITPL Main Road, Whitefield Main Road, and Outer Ring Road, as well as the Peripheral Ring Road via the Doddenekundi area.

Officials indicated that these lands were earmarked for road widening under either registered relinquishment deeds or the Revised Master Plan (RMP) 2015.

In total, 56,722.6 square meters (approximately 14 acres) of land has been acquired for road and infrastructure development. To prevent encroachments, signboards indicating that the land belongs to the City Corporation and is reserved for road widening will be installed in the coming days.

The acquisition of this land is set to facilitate the following infrastructure developments:

  • Widening of major and minor roads
  • Construction of pedestrian pathways and cycling tracks
  • Improvement of traffic flow and reduction of congestion
  • Strengthening essential infrastructure for future urban development

With rapid development occurring in the eastern sector, enhancing road capacity has become essential. To this end, a team comprising operational engineers, assistant operational engineers, urban planning officials, land registry officers, and TDR division staff has been created to systematically identify and acquire such lands.

Officials asserted that the Corporation is committed to planned urban development, improved traffic systems, and sustainable infrastructure construction.
