BENGALURU: In a recent development, the Karnataka High Court has issued a directive to investigating officers, instructing them not to take any coercive action against Anuradha Rai, the stepmother of Muthappa Rai. This decision comes in light of the attempted murder case involving Muthappa Rai’s son, Rikki Rai.
The ruling was made by a single-judge bench presided over by Justice Hemanth Chandanagoudar, following a petition filed by Anuradha Mattappa Rai, Muthappa Rai’s second wife. The petition sought to dismiss the charges brought against her in connection with the attempted murder case.
During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer argued that Anuradha Rai had no involvement in the incident and that her name had been unjustly implicated in the case. It was mentioned that any alleged property dispute between Rikki Rai and the petitioner had been resolved six months prior. As a result, the lawyer requested a stay on the trial court proceedings in Ramanagara.
After considering the arguments presented, the bench decided to adjourn the hearing and instructed investigating officers not to take any coercive action against Anuradha Rai until the next scheduled hearing. This decision highlights the importance of a fair and just legal process in ensuring that all parties involved receive a fair trial.
