When asked about the rationale behind renaming Ramanagara district and the associated costs, he stated, “A formal notification will be issued regarding this change, and there will be no financial implications. Historically, this area was part of the Bangalore district, where I had the privilege of serving as the president of the Bangalore Rural District Panchayat. Hoskote, Devanahalli, Doddaballapur, Ramanagara, Kanakapura, and Magadi were all integral parts of Bangalore. We are dedicated to preserving that identity, which is why the cabinet has decided to rename this district as Bangalore South District within the legal framework.”
In response to inquiries about potential opposition from the central government regarding this decision, he clarified, “The central government has no jurisdiction over this matter. We submitted a proposal to inform them of our intentions, but some individuals have attempted to politicize the issue. This is a state matter, and it is our right to implement this change. We have previously established other districts, such as Gadag and Chamarajanagar, without seeking permission from the central government. Moving forward, all official documents will reflect the new name, Bangalore South District. I encourage everyone to refer to me as representing Bangalore South District.”
