Puneeth Rajkumar was ‘unresponsive’ when admitted: Vikram Hospital

According to Bengaluru hospital, panel of experts tried their best to save Kannada megastar, but in vain

BENGALURU:

Following the untimely death of Kannada megastar Puneeth Rajkumar (46) after a cardiac arrest on Friday, Vikram Hospital in Bengaluru, where the actor breathed his last, issued a statement to the effect that he was ‘non-responsive’ when brought to the hospital’s emergency ward.

The statement by Dr Ranganath Nayak, cardiologist, Vikram Hospital, said: “Puneeth Rajkumar, aged 46 years, was brought to Vikram Hospital on 29/10/21 with diagnosis of heart attack, with ECG done by a family doctor. At the time of arrival to the emergency, the patient was non-responsive and was in cardiac asystole. Hence, immediate advanced cardiac life support measures were initiated for resuscitation.”

The statement added: “Inspite of prolonged advanced and aggressive measures, the patient continued to be non- responsive and asystolic. The panel of medical experts extended all efforts to save him. He was declared dead at 2.30 pm on 29.10.2021.”

The youngest son of legendary Kannada thespian Dr Rajkumar, Puneeth was was rushed to Vikram Hospital after complaining of chest pains on Friday morning.
