Household tap plan will cover entire rural Karnataka by 2023-end: CM

At a review meeting on the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Karnataka between Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhavat and Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Tuesday, the Union Minister suggested prioritizing aspirational districts like Raichur and Yadgir for the provision of functional household tap connections (FHTCs).
Under JJM, the Centre intends to provide functional household taps to 15.70 crore rural households by 2024.
Apprising the Union Minister about the progress of JJM in the state, the CM said the state government aims to provide 91.19 lakh rural households with 55 LPCD of potable water through FHTCs. Under this scheme, during 2021-22 it is intended to provide FHTCs to 25.17 lakh households and to 27.15 lakh households in 2022-23, and to cover the remaining 10.72 lakh households by the end of December 2023, he said.
Multi-village scheme
The state cabinet has approved the Multi-Village Scheme worth Rs 2,000 crore for Raichur, while a Multi-Village Scheme is also being planned for Yadgir, he said.
Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Minor Irrigation Minister JC Madhuswamy and senior officers from the Centre and the state government were present at the meeting.
