Bandipur staffer sacked after video goes viral
BENGALURU:
Following public outrage, a forest department employee who fired a rubber bullet at an elephant has been sacked while another employee who videographed the incident is under investigation.
The incident took place on March 7 in the Yadiala zone of the Bandipur sanctuary. The video, which went viral, shows a jeep parked outside a barricade and staffer Rahim ‘shooting’ the jumbo.
ACTOR OUTRAGED
Tagging the Karnataka forest department on Twitter, Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda condemned the incident.
Bandipur field director T Balchandra said, “We have removed Rahim, a temporary staffer. We will take action against Umesh, a regular employee, after an internal enquiry.”
