Nikhil wedding, invitation to Corona?

Date:

Guests aplenty, no social distancing

RAMANGARA:

In a time of coronavirus, former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has shown himself to be a poor role model in conducting his son and actor Nikhil’s marriage ceremony.

On Friday morning, former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda’s grandson married Revathi, grandniece of a Congress leader and former minister, at a farmhouse near Bidadi, about 28 km from Bengaluru city.

According to sources, despite the lockdown restrictions, more than 200 people attended the wedding, and there was little evidence of social distancing, masks or any other precautions during the rituals.

Around 48 car passes were reportedly issued but many more cars arrived at the venue. Visuals
of the wedding ceremony have gone viral on social media.

Meanwhile, the wedding ceremony of JDS MLC T A Sharavana’s daughter was also planned for April 17 but was postponed due to the lockdown and restriction on invitees. Speaking to media, Sharavana said, “The marriage was held in a simple way — no norms were flouted.”

Earlier, Nikhil’s wedding was planned at a 95-acre estate near Ramanagara with a lavish set, lakhs of party workers and well-wishers in attendance, and a grand reception in Bengaluru.
