Bengaluru: Crimes that were once limited to late-night hours have now taken a disturbing turn, with brazen burglaries being reported in broad daylight. A shocking case of daytime house burglary has surfaced from the area of Nelamangala, where unidentified thieves broke into homes and escaped with gold jewellery and cash worth nearly ₹30 lakh.

According to preliminary information, the burglars allegedly attempted break-ins at three houses in the area within a short span of time. While they abandoned their attempts at the first two houses after sensing movement inside, the criminals succeeded in their third target.

In the successful burglary, the accused allegedly forced open the main door and iron locks and stole approximately ₹4.5 lakh in cash and around 190 grams of gold jewellery, estimated to be worth ₹30 lakh. Shockingly, the entire theft was executed in just four minutes, after which the burglars fled the scene.

Residents have expressed serious concern over the incident, noting that the theft occurred during daytime hours when people were moving around, raising alarming questions about public safety and surveillance in residential areas.

The house owner told reporters that the family had left home around 9:30–10:00 am for routine work, shopping, and personal errands. When they returned later in the evening, they found the house broken into and valuables missing.

Police have been informed about the incident, and an investigation has been initiated. Officers are examining the modus operandi, checking for CCTV footage, and suspect that experienced and organised burglars may be involved.

The incident has triggered fear among local residents, who are demanding increased police patrolling and immediate preventive measures, as daylight crimes continue to rise even in semi-urban and residential pockets around Bengaluru.
