BENGALURU:
A murder accused who tried to evade arrest by throwing chilli powder at a police party was shot in the leg and is now in hospital.
The incident occurred when the police went to arrest the accused in Lidkar colony in the KG Halli station limits around 6 am.
Rowdy Bijju alias Maya Dileep, 39, of Bagalur Layout, was killed by a rival gang on Saturday night. On Monday, the police launched an operation to arrest the accused, Sanjay alias Andrews.
Sanjay tried to escape by throwing chilli powder at the cops. As a warning, Inspector Ajay Sarathy fired in the air. But when Sanjay did not surrender, he was shot in the leg. Further investigation is on by the K G Halli police.
